Thank you 2008-2009!

Hey there CKI-

Whether you know this or not there are probably over a hundred Circle K'ers around the world right now waiting and counting down til their clocks hit 12:00am EST. Well, with that being said I know I will be one of those people and I am just as sad as I am excited.

April 1st, 2009 at 12:00am EST marks the brand new 2009-2010 service year and while I am absolutely ecstatic about the opportunity to meet with new bright and brilliant leaders this yea
r I can't help but also be sad and say goodbye to the leadership team family I have known to grow and love this year as well. Thank you so much to every officer and member who helped your districts succeed. The year that we had would not have been as great without any single person missing from the equation and I am very proud to have been along for the ride as International Representative and to finish it off as President. I hope that every single person knows how thankful I am for the great things that they have done and I know will continue to do inside and outside CKI.

May your hearts always be warm 08-09 & gear up 09-10!

Have you hugged an advisor lately?

Hey all-

I hope everyone is making it through midterm season and has managed to take a break from working, volunteer, and spend some time with your club.

At my Circle K meeting last night we had our nominations for officers and I am ridiculously excited for what the year will bring next year and proud that I have one more year to dedicate to my club and CKI (woot go Class of 2010!). All the candidates who were nominated would do a phenomenal job in any office and I'm looking forward to another great SUNY Potsdam CKI E-Board.

The picture above is with Joe Swan (our FANTASTIC advisor), my Club President Lauren, Club Secretary Kari, Club Comptroller Liz, Club Treasurer Kari, and Club Editor Jen. I wanted to post it and congratulate them as well as the retiring 08-09 Club Exec Boards for working so hard all year to promote service, leadership, and fellowship. This thanks is also especially deserved to the advisors and Kiwanians who dedicate their time to helping our organization succeed. Truthfully, without my Kiwanis Advisor Joe or Faculty Advisor Karen I don't quite know how successful or how much service would get done.

With that being said, take the time at your next club meeting to hug your Kiwanians and thank them for all they do. I encourage all clubs to hold surprise Thank You parties for your advisors and honor them in any way you can through cards, awards, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and have an amazing rest of your week.
Michigan District CKI, Seeeeeee you this weekend at DCON! =)

So Proud to be a Potsdam CKI'er,
-Kristen

Have you hugged a Kiwanian lately? I have!

Hi there everyone!

Last night I attended my home Kiwanis Club officer's installation and retirement. I want to take a quick moment to blog and say congratulations to James McFaddin on an awesome year as President of the Norwood Kiwanis Club. Norwood Kiwanis has been sponsoring the Norwood Key Club and Circle K Club for close to 70 years and Jim was an excellent president that did so much for my home CKI club!

If you get the opportunity be sure to take the time out of your day to say "Thank You!" to your home club Kiwanis advisor and Kiwanis club for all that they do to support your club and CKI as an organization. Web-sites such as hallmark.com and egreetings.com are excellent sites to send your club and advisors a free e-card. It takes very little time but I'm sure it would mean so much and make their day! Afterall, Kiwanians do love Circle K'ers!

I hope everyone's week is going great and a HUGE shoutout goes to the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District -- I can't wait to spend time with you guys this weekend!

Feeling Better!

Greetings from my comfy couch at my parent's house CKI! =)

I wanted to write to let you know I'm recovering well from my wisdom tooth extraction. Although it has been very painful I have enjoyed my new diet of Jello, mashed potatoes, soup, and the oh-so delicious soft dessert that is the Oreo Cakesters. I am the first to admit that even though I am supposed to be giving my mouth a break I have been cheating by sneaking in a few phone calls here and there to Vice President Torres and your LSSP Chair Rix.

Thank you to a few special people: Michelle Clemens & Emily Swartzentruber for the beautiful care packages. Also, shout out to Janice Lin for the wonderful e-mail saying "Welcome to the ranks of having survived wisdom teeth extraction :)"

I have survived and after a weekend of relaxing I was able to work with VP Torres on completing Ad-Hoc Committee Applications, finished a report to the Kiwanis International Leadership Committee, and caught up on some reading for my Women's Health class.

If you find yourself with a little spare time like I did please e-mail CKIMagazine@Kiwanis.org and let them know about any neat projects your club has been up to this Fall 2008 Semester. Also, I want to take the time to congratulate the winners of the 2008 Tomorrow Fund Grants. For a list of grant winners please visit www.circlek.org.

Again thanks for all the love CKI! Keep up the excellence in service, leadership, and fellowship!

Live to Serve -- Love to Serve,
